NIT Trichy: An Introduction

NIT TIRUCHIRAPPALLI(TRICHY) 

The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (formerly known as Regional Engineering College), situated in the heart of Tamil Nadu, was started as a joint and co-operative venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1964 with a view to catering to the needs of man-power in technology for the country. Because of this rich experience, this institution was granted Deemed University Status with the approval of the UGC/AICTE and Govt. of India in the year 2003 and renamed as National Institute of Technology.

Selection process: 

B.Tech program: Admissions to B.Teh / B.Arch courses are made on the basis of marks obtained in All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
M.Tech program: Admission to M.Tech program is made on the basis of GATE Percentile.
Ph.D.: Ph.D. selection is based on performance in written test conducted by the institute and subsequent interview.
