Thapar University Admission Notification,Application Process and Important Dates

Admissions to BE/BTech programs shall be made on the basis of merit in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE 2011) to be conducted by CBSE, New Delhi on May 1, 2011. Only those candidates shall be eligible, who score at least 20% (15% for SC/ST) aggregate marks in AIEEE 2011.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate should have minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science at 10+2 or equivalent examination are also required to be eligible for admission.

50% of the seats of BE/BTech program are reserved for the candidates who have passed/ (or appearing) in their +2 examination from the institutions located in Punjab. Remaining seats are for those who have passed +2 examinations from Institutions located outside Punjab.

Last date for receipt of completed application                           : May 23, 2011

The candidate can purchase the application form from the University Counter or by post or from select branches of AXIS Bank (for details of branch, visit www.thapar.edu) or by filling the application form on University website.

Details of Application Fee and Examination Fee:

Application form obtained from University counter by paying cash                  : Rs 1500/-

Application form obtained by post sending a DD                                          : Rs 1550/-

Candidates filling the application form on the University website must fill the complete details, take the print out of the form and attach the DD with the form. Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 1500/- should be made in favour of the Thapar University, Patiala and payable at Patiala. Complete applications must be sent to "Incharge Admission Cell", Thapar University, Patiala (Punjab) - 147004.

Solution: You can easily get Civil in Thapar University with this rank...you can expect mechanical also but keep your fingers crossed for that...As far as UIET is concerned,you can expect a better branch for sure..

ADMISSION NOTICE (2010-11)

B.E./B.Tech programme (first year on the basis of AIEEE-2010): Admissions to B.E./B.Tech programmes shall be made on the basis of merit in All India engineering entrance examination (AIEEE-2010) to be conducted by CBSE, New Delhi on April 25, 2010. Only those candidates shall be eligible, who score at least 20% (15% for SC/ST) aggregate marks in AIEEE-2010. In addition, minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/ Computer science at 10+2 or equivalent are also required to be eligible for admission

50% of the sanctioned seats of B.E./B.Tech programme are reserved for the candidates who have passed (or appearing) their +2 from Institutes located outside Punjab..

The candidates desirous of seeking admission in this university have to submit a separate application to this university on prescribed application form appended in the prospectus of the university..

In addition to above, 60 seats for Chandigarh campus shall be filled in B.E. (Computer Engineering) on all India basis on the merit of AIEEE-2010


B.E./B.Tech programme (second year through LEET-TU): Admission to the 2nd year of B.E./B.Tech programme shall be made on the basis of the entrance test (LEET-TU) to be conducted by the University at Patiala and Delhi on June 13, 2010


Only those candidates shall be eligible, who score at least 20% (15% for SC/ST) aggregate marks in LEET-TU. In addition, minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in relevant discipline of diploma are required to be eligible for admission
15% seats over and above the sanctioned intake are available for foreign national/NRI candidates in all the UG and PG programmes

For depositing money through state bank of Patiala (SBOP), a candidate can deposit money in favour of the following account; SBOP, name of account Thapar University, account number 65051004116, account type – savings


For depositing money through demand draft, the demand draft of requisite amount should be made in favour of the registrar, Thapar university, Patiala and payable at Patiala. A candidate must write the journal number in the downloaded/online application form. Those applying online must send the printed copy of the application form along with 3 (1 for B.E./B.Tech) recent passport size photographs. A candidate willing to apply for more than one M.Sc/ME/M.Tech/M.Phil programme, whether in same or different departments, is required to fill separate form for each programme along with requisite exam fee. Complete application forms must be sent to i/c admission cell, Thapar University, Patiala-147004 (Punjab)
